Continuing our Gay Cities series, today we take a look at the 5 best gay bars in Tokyo, Japan. One of the largest cities on Earth, Tokyo is a bustling megalopolis, filled with fascinating history, architecture and people!
The city's gay district is based around Shinjuku Ni-chome, or Shinjuku Area 2. Shinjuku is the world's busiest railway station, and Ni-chome is just a stone's throw away, featuring the largest concentration of gay bars anywhere in the World.
Definitely worth a visit, Tokyo has something for everyone. There are so many bars packed into Ni-chome that it would be impossible to name them all, however, we wanted to cover 5 that we loved when we visited!
So without further ado, and in no particular order, here is our breakdown of the 5 best gay bars in Tokyo, Japan.

A super-trendy hangout with a ton going on, Eagle Tokyo is actually part of a group which includes the Eagle Tokyo Patio and Eagle Blue. Eagle Tokyo brings a New York feel to Ni-chome, and is the home of both Starrfukker (club music and go-go boys on select night) and Bearfukker (Tokyo's premier bear party). You'll love it!

A mainstay of Ni-chome since the early-90s, Arty Farty has great cocktails, a welcoming atmosphere, and a very reasonable drinks menu. The venue often hosts DJs and is known for its great music - definitely a place to dance off what remains of your energy after a long day exploring Tokyo!
Arty Farty also has a club next door called Annex - if you get your hand stamped in Arty Farty you can enjoy free entry to Annex!

Perhaps the most famous bar on this list, Campy! is run by celebrity drag queen Bourbonne. Drag is the name of the game here, and Campy! is about as outrageous and flamboyant as a bar anywhere in the World can get.
Nightly drag shows are well worth seeing, and the atmosphere at Campy! is so welcoming you'll end up spending a full night here. Not one to miss!

It's all about the muscle at Bar Black Nude! Gorgeous guys behind the bar, great drinks, and fantastic music, Bar Black Nude is always a great night. Popular with the muscle crowd, you'll be in your element if that's your kind of thing. The staff really are stunning... worth a look!

AiiRO is instantly recognisable by its rainbow Torri in front of the door, as well as the crowds of people that throng around outside (they can't help it, it gets so busy!) Whilst the bar may be small, it's open late, and is famed for its welcoming atmosphere, as well as a great happy hour. An absolute must!
